Janelle Monae is canceling some dates on her "Electric Lady" tour.
The singer has been put on mandatory vocal rest as she tours in support of her sophomore album. She's canceled her Wednesday and Thursday shows in San Diego and Phoenix.
Janelle apologized in a message to fans on her website, saying that having to gave them a rain check has left her "heartsick and shaken" because she lives to connect with fans and give them "a one of a kind concert experience." Explaining her need to rest her voice, the singer compared herself to a smartphone, saying that "even the most expertly designed android breaks down sometimes and must recharge."
She will return to the stage on Saturday in Dallas but has yet to reschedule the canceled dates.
